Biography
Morolake (Rolake) Okanlawon is a PhD student in Bioinformatics and Computational Biology in the School of Systems Biology. She currently serves as the Graduate Professional Assistant for Graduate Student Engagement with Graduate Student Life. Morolake earned her Bachelor of Science degrees in Biology and Chemistry from Mississippi Valley State University in 2019, where she was actively involved in campus life as president of the African Students Union and chief of staff in the Student Government Association.
Beyond her research in bioinformatics, Morolake is passionate about building community, supporting student engagement, and creating spaces where people feel connected and empowered. She enjoys contributing to initiatives that foster belonging, mentorship, and collaboration among students from diverse backgrounds.
